Does it count? Because I am counting it! The year is 1982, and no one knew what the word gaudy meant. Also most were naturally aspirated, carbureted 4.1L V6's with 125 HP. A few were built turbo and were called Grand National "Sport Coupes" and had a whopping 175 HP. Wohoo

There were other Buicks that got the turbo 3.8. I think the Riviera was one of them. I forget if they called it a T-Type or Riviera GN... To the google!

EDIT: It was a Riviera T-Type.

For whatever reason, despite the fact that they're shit and had shit styling and came from an era of (mostly) shit cars, it kinda does.

White letter tires don't hurt.

Yup riviera had a 3.8 T. The T-type a regal outifitted almost incidental to the Grand National, except it didn't have the same black trim, wheels, emblems, etc. A t-type is actually faster than a grand national if optioned correctly because it is lighter!

IIRC the riviera heads are a little smaller than the GN ones. Pontiac used a derivative of that head on the '89 Trans-Am Pace car with the 3.8t and got more power out of the engine :)

I just can't stand the chrome bumpers on it.

Especially when I know this is out there and just a few years away:

Yea, I keep my eyes out for the T-Types. It's amazing how cheap they are compared to the GN. Are people really that clueless about the parallels between the two? Or is the fancy packaging really worth that much more to them?

I think it is the name. T-type prices are starting to jump up now though. If I had the extra crash laying around I would love to pick one up.

I would do it just like this:

I would do more white. Basically a white GN lol.

How about the Regal and Lesabre turbo sports coupes from 78?

I love the earlier style pre-refresh designs of the A- and B-bodies
